On Sunday, December 7, 2008 the Flisvos Marina Christmas Wonderland will light up with holiday spirit as a Seafaring Santa Claus arrives (by boat, what else?) to illuminate the marina’s 40 foot Christmas tree and officially open the Frozen Lake, the largest ice skaing rink along Athens’ coastline.
The holiday festivities will continue all month and into January, with special events for the youngsters and the young at heart, including ornament and Christmas card workshops, magic shows and dance performances, along with musical performances and even a traditional Greek “Karagiozis” shadow puppet show! Even when official events aren’t scheduled, the marina will be alive with face painters and balloon artists, so come out for a visit, enjoy a hot chocolate or coffee and celebrate the Athenian spirit of the holidays.
By the way, while you’re visiting, stop by to say hi to St Nick (err, he’s actually St Basil to the Greeks!). Santa Claus will hang around all month in his coastline cottage to greet young and old alike, ready to hear your holiday wishes.
The complete schedule for the month is below, and individual events are included on our Athens Events Calendar elsewhere on the true-athens.com website.
