Stelios Kazantzidis’ voice lives on in this tribute concert under the stars at the Old Olympic Stadium (Kalimarmaro Stadio / Panathainikos Stadio) in Athenss, on Friday September 18, 2009 and at the Kaftantzogleio Stadio in Thessaloniki on Wednesday September 23, 2009. The concert features appearances by some of the biggest names in Greek music:

Haris Alexiou
Yorgos Dalaras
Glykeria
Marinella
Dimitris Mitropanos
Paschalis Terziz

Tickets are 16 euro per person and may be ordered online for credit card purchase. Tickets can be delivered via courier in Greece (4 euro) or picked up at the box office of the Stadium on the day of the performance.

To order tickets online visit http://www.stelioskazantzidis.net and click on the red graphic on the right side of the page. For non greek speakers, the drop down menu will have two choices, you should be able to choose based on the dates (18/9/2009 is the Athens concert).

    I live in Germany and I would like very much to get cards for the Yorgos Dalaras concert in Athens or Thessaloniki. Could you please advise if there is another web site in English to buy the tickets? Thanks a lot in advance!

    1. Hanna – There is not currently a website for ordering tickets in English – Here’s what you need to know to order from the Greek site:
      First drop down menu is the choice between Athens 18/9/2009 (Athens) and Thessaloniki (23/9/2009) concerts –
      Second drop down menu is the number of tickets.
      Third click to choose credit card, this is the default – you can leave this as is.
      Next line is ticket delivery, change it to the right button, Pickup on the day of the concert at the venue box office.
      Next fill in last name, first name, email address and telephone number and then click CONTINUE. When you click continue it will confirm your details and you will be transported to PAYPAL. From there you should have English.

    I followed your instructions and got confirmation e mail with order code.
    Does it mean everything is ok and the tickets will wait for me in ticket office?

    is there any seat reservations?

      The tickets for the show at Kalimarmaro/Old Olympic Stadium are general admission, so there are no assigned seats. I’ll check on when the stadium is going to open that night and let you know, so you can decide how early you want to go. The tickets will be waiting at the box office which they set up outside the stadium (last year it was to the right of the stadium as you face it, with your back to the National Gardens.)

      Last time I checked they only had a website in Greek to order tickets. You can view my reply a few comments before this one where I explain how to order from the Greek website.
      If it weren’t such a big stadium, I’d say, “maybe we’ll see you there!”

      Be sure that you are going selecting PICKUP ON THE DAY OF THE CONCERT – you need to select this on the screen by changing the tick box to the RIGHT BUTTON.

    Do you think we can by tickets on the same day of the show at the box office of the stadium?

    1. Hi Sunny
      I am pretty certain that there will be tickets on the day of the show at the Stadium. Last year they were selling tickets for one of the concerts we attended there. It’s a huge stadium and the seating is general admission, so selling out seems unlikely. Just be sure to get there early to get in for a good seat.

    Do you know when the show starts? When do you think we should be at the box office?
    I am sure that even if we’ll be there few hours before the show the site is beautiful and we can tour arround…

    1. Hi Sunny
      The concert starts at 21:30 (7:30 pm). If you get there early and get your tickets, but the stadium is not yet open, there is a nice cafe across the street in the park at the Zappeio Gardens.
      You can also take a nice walk through the National Gardens.

    1. Oops, my mistake – it is 21:30, or 9:30 pm :-)
      I am going, I bought our tickets online already. I don’t know what time they will open the box office, I’ll see if I can find anything out about that.

    the tickets for the show in Thessaloniki are finished?? i tried to buy on the site, but it’s imposible.
    I want to see this show on 23 sept, so… if i go at stadium in the day of concert, coud i find tickets there? (i’m not from greece, and i come in Thessaloniki only in the same day of the show)

      I don’t know about the show in Thessaloniki. I went to the Athens show and there were tickets available for sale outside on the night of the concert. The website actually says that online sales are over and that tickets are available from other sales points … which I take to mean that they will be available online on the night of the concert.

    I’m happy, because i was in Thessaloniki and i find tickets on the stadion. So…the show was amazing, the weather wonderfull, and…all the singers were in a great form!
    thank you , and i’ll hope to know news about the concerts in winter season, in clubs.
    I’m just waiting to come back in Athens!

      I’m so glad you got tickets and that you had nice weather. We had a great time at the Athens concert, despite the rain … I’m certain they would have kept singing if the technical people (the one’s who provided the equipment, big screens, etc) would have let them. But it was a great concert nevertheless, and for me personally it was fun to share it with my parents, who were in from Chicago. They’re real troopers, sticking it out in the rain :-)
      I’m starting to gather winter info, so I’ll keep the calendar updated and their also the post with the clubs and bouzoukias that will get updated.

    I’m looking for a DVD or CD of the tribute concert to Stelios Kazantzidis, which took place on September 18th 2009 (in Athens and/or Thesaloniki).
    Where can I buy the DVD or CD, or download it (if the concert was recorded, of course) ?

    I succeeded finally to find Carole’s e-mail address, and I’ve sent to her my request (see my message from Octobe 21st, right above your message).
    I also took the liberty to write to her about your request, which is actually the same as mine.
