I get asked that alot by guests and visitors, and while I don’t really know why there has been such an increase in recent years, I do know that it really doesn’t have the same “gang” undertones we associate with graffiti in the United States. Some of it has to do with sport rivalry, and of course, lately with political and economic sentiments, but more and more of it is quite beautiful and interesting and as my collection of street art photos has grown I’ve taken to learning a bit more about the WHO behind the art, not just the WHY.
Recently I stumbled uppon an Athenian artist named rooster who is not only leaving behind a slight alteration of the urban landscape, but he’s actually documenting the entire process – I thought this was pretty interesting.
